Pompeian Ash is a dark grey paint found on a prestigious National Trust property.

One of Britain’s most unusual homes, the 200-year-old Ickworth House in Suffolk was commissioned as a private residence for the enigmatic world traveller Frederick Hervey, on a property the family had owned since the mid-15th century. The design of the 19th-century Pompey Room was based on ancient frescoes excavated at the Villa Negroni in Rome. At Ickworth, this dark grey-green paint played the role of black in its striking Palladian colour scheme.
